HealthSouth Nittany Valley’s “Surviving Stroke” Series Offers Community Education
PLEASANT GAP, Pa. –HealthSouth Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital will host the “Surviving Stroke” Series July 11, Aug. 3 and Sept. 7 from 5 – 6 p.m. at Mount Nittany Medical Center located at 1800 Park Avenue. HealthSouth Nittany Valley is hosting the series to raise awareness about stroke in our community and open a conversation about prevention, intervention and recovery following stroke. Each class will focus on a different educational area:
Tuesday, July 11 – Prevention
A panel of medical professionals, including physicians, pharmacists and a registered nurse will discuss ways to prevent stroke.
Thursday, Aug. 3 – Emergency Care and Hospitalization
Emergency medical services personnel, emergency room nurses and therapists will discuss what happens following a stroke. Attendees will also learn about state-of-the-art stroke technology.
Thursday, Sept. 7 – Continuing the Journey of Recovery
Stroke rehabilitation therapists will answer questions about the role of physical, occupational and speech therapy as well as technology to maximize recovery. A local stroke survivor will share his personal experience of rehabilitation and recovery.
